About Us

Back to topOur History

Map of the Month, also known as Maps for the Classroom, is a family-run business which has been providing maps to schools across the United States for 15 years. We carefully research and design our maps at our offices in Providence, Rhode Island. We began with a small list of basic maps and have gradually added more. Currently, we offer over 70 maps to be used in your classroom.

Each year Map of the Month adds new maps. Please visit The Map Zone for all of our maps, daily geography calendar and lesson plans. Be sure to check out our widely popular history maps — The Thirteen Colonies and World Explorers. Future plans include adding more history maps such as Ancient Civilizations and American Westward Movement.

Jason Newton, our cartographer, says:
"After years of teaching cartography workshops in the schools in the NorthEast, I've found that a hands-on, activity-oriented approach is the best way to teach geography. We've designed these maps based on my classroom experience. We hope to continue to add relevant maps yearly to meet the needs of teachers throughout the community."
